Great for the money
Excellent quality vise and a huge improvement over my previous beginner style unit. Craftsmanship is outstanding. One of the easiest to align for rotation with the fly centerline staying stable.

Great price, good value, good quality, not Medium
This rod is an excellent value, and appears to be well made compared to much more expensive rods on the market. Of course fly rods have to meet some rather subtle standards in order to get a 5 star rating. This rod gets a 4 star mostly for physical quality and value. Can't beat the price, and this was from a U.S. vendor (though mfg'ed in Shandong Province in China.
The rod is certainly NOT a "Medium Fast" rod. It is a "Fast" rod. That is not a problem for fly fishermen who are experienced and know how to cast a fast rod -- it is different. As a fast rod the performance is pretty good. Fast rods are great for casting into the wind, or for heavier flies and lines. A fast rod is usually much too difficult for a beginner to use. The vendor/manufacturer needs to properly brand this rod as a fast rod, and then offer a truly medium rod for the beginners that are most likely to try to buy a $25.00 rod.
Bottom Line: Very good fast rod for the money.

Inexpensive solution for a problem
These are really simple devices, made with commonly available materials, but these folks built them and we didn't. For those not sure what these items do, consider the elastic bands used on some tippet that you buy, where the tippet comes out through the center of a rivet on the elastic. As you pull off the line, the elastic swings around the reel, keeping the tippet on the reel and under control. These are a smaller version of that and they work great. These are especially good for managing floss due to the problem of floss unraveling so easily and getting tangled while tying flies. While these may also be helpful for finer threads, I'm not sure if this isn't a bit of overkill for that specific case. The construction was good, and workmanship was excellent.
