With a little modfication, so far so good
It's not Attwood, it's Springfield Marine Co. And it squeaked like fingernails on the old blackboard. Inspecting the bottom, flanged surface, where the pedestal contacts the bushing in the deck, the edges were so rough and sharp as to scratch ones skin. I easily filed the rough stuff down with a Leatherman file. I also, following advice found on the web, applied some ChapStick to that surface and to the pedestal pin. A preliminary test showed the squeak to be gone, but we will see how long that might last.
I should add that it wasn't easy finding an 11 inch pedestal, and if 11 inch is what one needs, this could be "the only game in town."

They don't make them anymore, so this was like finding gold.
The remote was in fine condition, and it works. I no longer have to lay on the floor to change settings on the receiver, and that's a big plus. It's exactly the same as the original one which went to remote heaven.

Just what I was looking for (but better)
Pieces are about 1/4 in thick, so no danger of them cracking. The design is brilliant in its simplicity. It sits on top of the shower enclosure for support. It has a lip that provides support for the rod without having to rely on torsion. It holds the standard shower curtain about 3 inches off the floor and the liner an inch or so off the bottom of the tub/shower stall floor. No tool installation takes only a minute with two people.
