Waited five years to find one
It is a good locomotive, easy to maintain and troubleshoot should anything come up. Parts readily available and a simple design. Very good detail for an ' out of the box' Athearn unit.

Great tracks!
I have assembled two sets of these tracks, but I used Taylor’s pins instead of the resin pins for ease of installation and durability

I've already built one AVGP, and Trumpeter is the way to go!!
Trumpeter has captured great amounts of detail in these kits, they even include brass wire for hydraulic lines and photo etched parts for added detail. I have obtained expertise from a Canadian forces member who trained on these AVGPs and it seems that Trumpeter has hit the nail on the head. Great kits, however they are not for beginners. You have a lot of tiny, but extremely detailed parts.
