Maryjane's Ideabook - A Fascinating Read

I was doing research on Women in USFS Fire lookouts, and found a series of references to Mary Jane Butters and to this this book. Bought a copy, and loved it too much to give away to my Mom (who was a fire lookout in the 1950's), so had to buy ANOTHER one (on Ebay) for her. We really like the beautiful pictures and illustrations. It is an excellent window into a simpler world. The book provides the opportunity to reflect on life in general and how use of "spare" time has changed over the years. Mom says it is like going back to her childhood and time spent with her Mom. We hope to read more chapters and possibly use some of the ideas as Christmas presents. What a GREAT book. There is no downside to the book other than it is somewhat expensive - but worth it!

Great historical look back.

Such an interesting slice of overlooked American history. Found copies for GF's son working in Austin and dad who grew up near Woodward Oklahoma and the cattle drives. Nice stories that all ring true.
