Excellent, touching book
I found some old photos from my dad's stuff. The showed combat in Peleliu. He was in the Army during WWII. There wasn't much press coverage of the Army fighting, but Tom Lea was with the first wave of Marines. He drew one image of a Marine with combat fatigue with Bloody Nose Ridge on Peleliu in the background. The enemy had been hidden in the ridges and was driving them nuts even in the first days. Six weeks later, the Army relieved the Marines and fought for another six weeks before the battle ended. My father fought with the Army to defeat the enemy in the same ridges as those behind that Marine Tom Lea drew. I can identify Bloody Nose Ridge in my dad's photos from Tom Lea's art.
This book is a treasure and it has tremendous meaning to me.
