Brings back fond childhood memories
I used to love watching this campy tokusatsu tv series from Japan about Johnny Sokko a little Japanese boy and his “pet” robot! who was a member of a world police force called the Unicorns who’s archenemies were the extraterrestrial baddies the Gargoyles led by Emperor Guillotine. I would tune in and watch Johnny’s robot that he “jacked” from the Gargoyles go on to kick some Gargoyle monster ass saving Japan and pissing off Emperor Guillotine in the process usually while the Unicorns and Gargoyles had gun fights as well. Back when I was a kid in the early’70s. Later I used to own some VHS copies of Johnny Sokko and his flying robot back in the late ‘80s that a friend of mine taped off his tv with his VCR unfortunately my then live-in girlfriend tossed them out. Oh, well, there is always YouTube and streaming available and now I have dvd available too! While the special effects may be tacky and low budget but to the little kid in me, they were still pretty cool and amusing. I still liked the campiness of the series.(sorry but CGI back in the 60s)I enjoy simple, silly fare as Johnny Sokko as well as Ultraman partially as nostalgia as well as entertainment and escape from these trying times. If you are into vintage, campy, but fun Japanese tokusatsu entertainment, then Johnny Sokko and his flying robot is for you.

Detail,Detail,Detail!
Detail! Detail! Detail! I have not built it yet, but I opened the box and checked the all the parts which are all accounted for and was impressed with how detailed the kit is. The one negative was that although there were a choice of different countries air forces l could choose from with the decals , there were no Chinese or North Vietnamese options. Fortunately l already have a stash of spare PLAAF (Chinese) decals from a Mig 15 kit for it anyway which I plan to use. Otherwise a great kit for a modest price.Looking forward to building it.

Oldie but goodie
I bought the kit used, some work getting certain parts to fit because they were a little warped, that’s ok, I managed to with some sanding and putty got things together just fine. This is a very old kit but everything is there and most of all the Decals were in great shape! No yellowing! As I wanted to add a North Vietnamese Mig 17 to my collection to keep the N. Vietnamese Mig 21s company. I decided to paint it in the bare metal finish to represent a Mig 17 from the early part of the Vietnam Air War (Operation Rolling Thunder) 1965-68.
