Good for low velocity projectiles only
As the trap comes, it isn’t going to contain pellets or BB’s very well. In addition to the front being wide open there are two quarter sized holes on each side of the pellet trough. I found that if you simply layer old rags, folded sheets of news paper and two layers of cardboard on the front of the target then it contains pellets and steel BB’s. The cheap spinner targets fit over the holes if you cut them off the steel rod. I have fired at least 1000 steel bbs into this trap at from a 400 FPS BB pistol and there’s only a light dimpling on the back side. I have yet to have anything come back at me, and the trap is actually quiet! No duct seal, no rubber mulch, and it’s even easy to empty. I got curious and shot this trap with a .22 CB cap, the bullets all hit the steel in the back. But they were pretty intact so the rounds obviously were slowed! This probably would work for faster air guns, but you might want to change/move the paper and rags inside more frequently. This trap works great, as long as you stuff plenty of paper and cardboard into it.
