Cheap, reliable & simple to use and plenty of high end features.

The HTC 8181 & 8183 are a great handset, After owning an iPhone (4) for one week, I replaced it with a HTC 8183. It is a very fast and responsive handset. Caution:!! while these two look identical, they have different HSDPA (3G) frequencies. In Australia the 8183 is for the Telstra (NextG) network and the 8181 is for all other (Australian) carriers. The "HTC Sense UI" makes it a breeze to get up to date weather, operating Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc requires no more than two button presses. You can add music as easy as copying to a USB drive, so you can do it from a friends PC or receive by Bluetooth. (You don't have to connect to your own PC running dedicated software. The only drawback is the on board memory, you can install plenty of Apps just don't go overboard. Now two years since its release, they are a very cost effective entry level into the "Smartphone" market. I still rate it in the top 50% of smartphones.
