Venom 4500

The assembly instructions are not very good but being a man I usually don’t read them anyway. It came with two different wiring diagrams and both were wrong. I had to google the contact to figure out which post was which color. It came with a solid aluminum fairlead. Instructions said to bolt it to the winch mount plate before installing the winch but when I did that the bolt holes in the winch and the plate would not line up. Had to loosen the fairlead bolts, install the winch, then tighten the fairlead bolts. That’s the negatives. The winch looks great,Seems to operate smoothly , and has plenty of power . Only time and use will tell for sure on the quality but my initial impression is that it seems to be well built. The price beats most other brands by $100.00 to $200.00 or more! I am willing to suffer through the poor instructions for that kind of savings. I installed it on a 2017 Honda Pioneer 500 and it took me about 4 hours. There is no easy way to install the remote switch. That is Honda’s fault . Venom sent the winch with a dash board rocker switch and a handle bar mount. To use the rocker switch I would have to cut out a hole in the dash because Honda didn’t put any knock outs in the dash. There is no place in the cab to use the handle bar mount. So for now I am using the handle bar mount switch. I ran it under the hood to the left side of the steering wheel and it is just kind of laying there. If the winch holds up well I will eventually cut spot in the dash. I put a Polaris winch in a 2018 Sportsman 570 last year. The directions were clear. It came with simple factory ready plugs and took me about an hour. It also cost $150.00 more for a winch rated 1000 lbs less . I guess you get what you pay for. I hope this information is useful in making your decision on which winch to purchase.
