Great for the future network
The Arris S33 is an excellent upgrade replacement for a cable modem. The DOCSIS 3.1 modem replaces DOCSIS 3.0 modems. It provides faster download speeds and more bandwidth than previous models. The S33 was easy to install and activate on Xfinity. The modem is on Xfinity's list of approved equipment and is also recommended for other cable ISPs.
The activation process is easier now than ever before. It is no longer necessary to get an ISP technician on the phone. Activation is completed in less than ten minutes with the included MAC ID using an ISP provided app installed on a phone or tablet or by direct connection to the modem with a network cable and a PC or laptop. The S33 has a single color-coded LED to indicate connection status while the previous models had four LEDs.
I connected the S33 to an AX level router with a CAT 8 cable, so now I get all of the ISP provided speeds and bandwidth. The previous modem was hot to the touch, so it had to be placed in a location with plenty of air circulation. Even though the S33 is not as hot, I put in the same location just in case this changes in the future.
The S33 was an excellent buy that makes my network future proof for at least 5 years. I hope that it lasts at least that long or more.
