Knitter's best friend
Best was to buy Karbonz, perfect sharpness for knitting without piercing your fingers. The carbon fibre is a great balance between the strength of metal and the warmth of wood (good thing for those not used to needles- stops your hands cramping up!) Good range of sizes, only really need to add 3.25 and 3.75 if you are rather exact about your needles. Case is fabric, but actually controls the needles, unlike the Novas case. Great buy

Good if you can adjust them!
These reeds are good if you are comfortable adjusting them yourself- you will definitely need to scrape and sand them to get them sounding acceptably. A good, cheap option when high end reeds are unavailable or too expensive.
