Shame about the hum! Otherwise good value!
This headphone amp is remarkable value for money, but it suffers from low frequency hum. This hum is very low level and is only noticeable when there is no input signal or in very quiet passages and the monitoring level is high, but there really is no excuse and Behringer could perhaps shield the power supply a little better as I suspect this is where the problem comes from. This hum is present even when not connected to other equipment, just headphones, so it is not an earth loop in my installation. Also, the tone controls are not great, adding bass results in a muddy sound and the HF gain is a little harsh. It will drive my efficient 25ohm Sennheiser HD25mk2's to very high levels, but my using my less efficient and higher impedance (400ohm) Beyer DT100's the amp struggles to get them loud and goes into clipping. Overall though, the audio quality is very good and at the price it is remarkable value for money. For my purposes, driving headphones in a radio studio that often has several guests requiring different volume settings, it does the job, but those looking for a very high quality unit for accurate and loud monitoring, may want to look elsewhere at more expensive alternatives. For the price 8/10 (9/10 if they fix the hum problem), as a high quality monitoring amp 6/10

Great little cd player!
I wanted a cd player to use in the bedroom for background music while I go to sleep. This model has a random play facility, so even with the same cd inserted the tracks play in a different order each time. Once all the tracks have played, the machine stops. For the purpose I wanted it this is ideal. The SL-PG3 does NOT have a remote control facility which may be a problem for some, but the slightly more expensive SL-PG4 does, so may be preferable. In terms of audio performance this machine will sound ok on budget to medium priced systems, but real hi-fi enthusiasts (or audiophiles as they are known) will probably want a more refined sound. I have an Arcam 8SE CD player on my main hi-fi and the little Technics does not compare in terms of soundstage and audio refinement, but then the Arcam costs 6 times as much! In all this is a great looking and well made machine with perfectly acceptable performance for the very low price.
