Thunder Road
4 of 4 found this helpful This movie was on TMC and I loved it enough to buy it for myself and my Mom. The best part about the movie was Robert Mitchum's acting. He is smuggling moonshine and officials try to catch him, but have a difficult time. The second best thing was discovering a singer (who plays his girlfriend) whom I never heard about before! Her name is Keeley Smith, who sang with Louis Prima years ago. The only song she sings is "Whipporwhill", but it is exceptional. She has the most wonderful voice (net to Doris Day!). Problem is, it is only available on a 45rpm and so rare that it is not obtainable to me yet!
This is an old fashioned "great" movie. You need to have this if you watch and collect old movies! Rebecca

Thunder Road
This is a great movie for an avid old movie buff. Robert Mitchum is excellent as a moonshine smuggler trying to evade officials. His girlfriend is played by Keely Smith, a singer I just discovered, tho she was a singer for Louis Prima and became his wife, many years ago. She is still singing and has an exceptional voice. The one and only song she sings in this movie is "The Whipporwhill", and it is still haunting me!
It is worth seeing for Robert's acting alone. But Keely's voice in this one song is also worth listening to. This song is not available except on a 45rpm and is not obtainable as far as I can find!
A great movie for Robert Mitchum fans and old movie buffs! Rebecca
