sigma 17-35mm (older model)
this lens is ok if you just want to experiment with a super-wide 17mm on your full-frame camera. don't bother if you have an APS-C chip as there are many other, cheaper, sharper lenses available. it's fairly light and compact too. unfortunately it is let down by image softness at wide apertures if you're using a Digital SLR - if you're shooting people that's not a bad thing, but if you're into landscapes then your pics will lose a bit of zing (i'm guessing this was designed for film cameras where circle of confusion and pixel spacing were not an issue). If you own a full frame cam and you can pick one up one of these lenses for £120 or less it's worth buying just to play with. if you want stunning pictures however you need to spend a bit more. have a look at the Canon L series 17-40mm (about £550 new so you might get a second hand bargain).
