A lot of brawn and analog brains in a small stomp.
Fantastic tonal versatility if you are not necessarily looking for a strictly classic fuzz sound. However, that is among this pedals' tricks if you're patient with the process of dialing that in. Basically, it does everything from thin insect buzzing to fat, beefy pummeling, thanks to the 3 different "subs" settings, impedence control (to tame active pickups or goose passive ones), and pulse width control which, in particular, can take the sound from fizzy, spitting instability to round and hairy. Volume, tone, fuzz level, and true bypass round off the control and features list. To top it off, it's tiny, built like a wee tank, and doesn't eat batteries in a fiendish manner. The only issue that even approaches complaint is that you really need to hunker down and explore the effect of every knob and switch on everything else before you have a complete idea of what this pedal can do, so be prepared to explore. A rare 5 out of 5 for me.

A sleek little solution that I’m not certain had a problem that it solves but I love it none the less.

A crushing tone monster, on the cheap
1 of 1 found this helpful The good: This instrument has a great feeling neck, hypnotic tone and was well set up upon arrival. Not sure how typical this is for perfect out-of-box intonation, neck relief etc. as mine was a store demo and could have been set up by the proprietor or a tech. Stays in tune surprisingly well. Big block, pearloid inlays and neck binding are a really nice touch on a guitar that otherwise appears to be an assemblage of odd parts. I usually associate these features with higher end instruments. Did I mention that I find myself playing for hours on end? Can't wait to perform and record with this beast. This guitar is definitely worth performing modifications on to perfect. Especially at the $350 price point.
The bad:
While I have have not had any particular issues with the bridge stability (many seem concerned about it's 3 screw connection to the body), I can say that the Danelectro style bridge on this thing is definitely off center. I have to take great care not to send the highest pitch string off the edge of the fretboard. I would like to replace the bridge with a Stetsbar Pro. I fear, however, that I would have to drill new holes in order to fix the off center problem (rather than being able to use the pre-existing drill holes), which may then require a slight change in the scale length if a have to place bridge on different plane to avoid the old holes. That being said, I did adapt to this awkwardness rather quickly but is still the single biggest demerit to this rig. I have heard that this problem is not with every unit but seems widespread.
Another issue is the nut (not sure of the material). The nut was clearly not the proper string slot sizes for the strings needed for this guitar. It looks as if the strings were placed over the string slots and pounded in to fit with a mallet or something. The blunt trauma to the slots is apparent when the strings are off. I'm thinking about putting a Graphtech Tusq nut on it so that I can easily file the slots to proper size without creating any jagged edges or rough surfaces. I must repeat, however: It does, despite all, stay in tune rather well.
This next aspect is very subjective but I was not a big fan of the Antigua finish. It comes off quite a bit differently in person than the appearance in photos. I replaced the shiny chrome knobs with some some black top hat knobs and swapped out the white PU covers black pickup covers, which added some needed contrast. The added contrast, in turn, made the astral phlegm color scheme appear more vibrant and less gross as a result. Major improvement. Last and least thing: the silly placement of the pickup switch making it quite difficult not to make contact with when strumming. Alas, this is not uncommon from the Fender-verse.
P.S. If I lost this guitar somehow, I would replace it as soon as I possibly could.
