Top quality components. Would be easy to modernize.
The ceramic rotary switches are much higher quality than most tuners, including the much-praised Heathkit tuners. These switches have little round discs at each stop that the sliders contact firmly, not just the usual thin wafers found in most rotary switches. The variable caps and the coil are also top-notch quality. The caps are mounted on stand-off insulators, so it would be easy to modify this tuner so the balun is on the input side. The built-in dummy load is fused and specs say 200 W for 30 sec. The variable caps are a little short on capacitance by today's standards (220 pF), but adequate for about anything above 160 meters, and it would not be difficult to install an external switch to switch in some fixed transmitting micas. The meters are hard to read with precision because of their size, and there's no peak measurement capability, but they're nice to have for a quick check on tuning.

Well positioned and clearly marked buttons, and works with Channel Master OTA DVR
This unit operates my TV, DVR, DVD, and Home Theater Sound perfectly--does everything the OEM units do. My equipment includes an unusual Over-the-Air DVR (Channel Master) that several other brands of remotes didn't support. I find the buttons are well positioned and marked, and I can control the sound even when the sound unit isn't selected.

Reliable, easy setup, intelligent design, runs cool
I wanted an alternative to paying my cable company (Mediacom) $10/month to rent their modem. A used Arris TM822G was the perfect solution, and it will pay for itself in 6 months. Setup a week ago was quick and easy, and it's run without incident since. I have 100 Gb/s service, and various internet speed tests show I consistently get that--no different than with the ISP rental modem. My modem came with a battery, which the manual says will power the phone operation about 8 hours. Just be sure this model is one your ISP will allow.
