CP 797-6 DEPENDABLE FOR THE LONG HALL
1 of 1 found this helpful The CP 797-6 Is legendary in the truck and Heavy equipment Repair Industry and for good reason. QUALITY & DEPENDABILITY. The CP 797-6 uses a "ROCKING-DOG CLUTCH. This type of clutch transfers enormous power smoothly from the air motor to the the anvil. A well proven design. I have never been left short with this air wrench. It delivers 1400 FT.LBS. of torque (REVERSE) . There are other models and other brands that have more torque but by far not as dependable or have the longevity of the CP 797-6 This air wrench has as much power today as it did TEN years ago when it was new. The only thing i have done to this is Kept it clean,Dry air supply & Oiled it each time I use it. Also replaced the friction ring for socket retention.
One thing to remember here is this air wrench is made in Japan. the newer model #'s are made in China. In my thoughts I would rather have an air tool that comes from a U.S.A. or Japan Factory. China may be ok if it is CP Owned,Staffed & Operated to the standards that of the U.S.A. or Japan Factories. But who knows that. I have been a Mechanic turning wrenches for over 45 years now. I have a great understanding for different design concepts and over all quality of a particular tool or piece of equipment. If you are looking for a 1" air wrench at a reasonable price (you get what you pay for) this is the #1 choice for Quality and dependability.
