This *WAS* a good welding machine..at the beginning..but..It died suddenly just after six months
1 of 1 found this helpful We were running this continuously for 7 to 8hrs of multiple welds and cuts per day and every day, (after we have received the second unit we have purchased) and so far it exhibits very steady performance. In MMA mode it holds a very stable arc. Unit is very portable, with duty cycle 100% at 125A and 60% at maximum settings this is a workhorse. Five days of literally non-stop use with plasma cutter torch attached and longer MMA leads attached at the same time, on 20m air supply line and 40m 15A extension cord has allowed us to see how this machine performs and to finish project faster than we have anticipated. Quality of welds with absolutely different types of electrodes, of plasma cuts and gouging and the constant current supply were consistent over the long period of use during these days (we would like to highlight that). Unit is reasonably quiet, it is light to carry if you need to, it is quite stable in all terms and the current display has a very good readability from the distance which is very important. The unit works on suitable of good quality generator just fine.Plasma torch is generic PT31 type and it is easy to find a replacement (up to 8 meters torches are available and 5m torch tested was working also fine with the unit) and spare consumables which is really great. 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm and 8mm and 10mm and even 12mm (though for a clean cut use this with care) cuts were reasonably fast. The 16mm and even 20mm severance plasma cut was possible with this machine on maximum settings, providing you know what you are doing when cutting to preserve life of the consumables. With consumables designed for gouging this machine is also quite capable of light level of gouging, which sometimes you may need to remove the deposited metal or round up some edges etc Overall it is a basic, yet it is a very practical set up in a reasonably compact casing though as per enclosed manual you will need once in 3months to open the case and clean the internals with the compressed air, therefore it is a good idea not to expose unit's air intake (on the rear plastic panel) to the metal dust as much as possible, however after 12 full on days of work with this welding machine unit inside does not seems collected at all any dust as far as it can be seen through the air port holes. If you a professional, and you know what you are doing this welding unit will serve you well as long as you are taking normal, standard precautions when welding or cutting.
Unfortunately after approximately 6months the cut function quit to work..out of blue..Disappointing..Bad quality plasma cutter..This was a second unit from this seller. It was used at first just a few weeks and then used after a month or so and then again has been used few times after and last work was for 30-40minutes of cutting of light material it was the "grand finale" of this poor quality item..the HF start stopped working and unit has stopped cutting, stopped igniting the arc, we have then contacted the seller to claim the warranty of 12 months (which is obviously seller does not want to honor as it became clear a bit later) .. and so far did not hear from the seller...So no more buying faulty goods from bit_deals shop for us..
