Truly a GEM
Johnny Depp is at his best in this film, it was before Captain Jack took over every last shred of him.
Freddie Highmore is an absolute revelation in this film and brings emotional maturity far past his 10 years.
Kate Winslet is a knockout and very believable as mom. And Julie Christie brings the wealth of her rich career to the film.
This DVD has great extras, providing another couple of hours' enjoyment.

AYR moisturizes nasal passages really well!
I'm prone to nosebleeds when my nostrils are too dry -- Colorado winter weather is brutal.
I used to use Vaseline or Neosporin, but an otolarygologist told me that petroleum-based ointments vaporize and are inhaled into the lungs where they do irreparable damage.
He recommended AYR -- it's made to go in the nose. I also use a Neti Pot when it's severely dry.
I put a small blob on the end of my pinkie and smooth it against the bridge of my nose at night when I lie down. Works wonders!

Excellent early performance buy a star
I had been wanting to acquire this, but it's not available in region 1. After encountering this with a lot of British French and Australian titles, I finally bought a region free DVD player. Now I can buy DVDs from any country and they will play
