SNOW PATROL Late Night Tales LateNightTales 19 tracks Glover, Lightbody, Simpson

Another successful compilation from LNT.
So the Late Night Tales series is just a fantastic concept. Get a diverse range of artists, set them lose with a music library, and ask them to come up with a compilation of their influences and non negotiable genre standards. Oh, see if they want to do a cover of a favorite track as well. Then... release it. The Snow Patrol release is one of those really surprising gems in the mix. I’m not a huge Snow Patrol fan and got the album because I’m kind of hooked on the Late Night Tales idea. This is the kind of purchase I made that I took a gamble on, and it has paid off big time! Obscure and never before heard gems abound on this release. I’m stoked by their diversity and depth of choice; not at all what I expected from Snow Patrol. Very happy this is now part of the collection (one more down, 10 or so to go!). Even happier it is one I’ll listen to often.

Musical Gold!
Another solid offering from the Late Night Tale series, this collection of tracks selected and mixed by Kid Loco takes the listener on another twisting and back road adventure that you'll be glad you took! The archives of rare and obscure music really open up in just about every Late Night Tales release, and Kid Loco's offering is no exception to this rule. Kid Loco expertly weaves tracks even the most avid music fan would be lucky to have stumbled across before, and leaves the listener very much in awe of the depth and richness of Kid Loco's musical knowledge and legacy. I always find Late Night Tales releases lead me to purchasing another two or three albums from artists I have not previously known. It's an expensive exercise listening to great music like this, but a rewarding and worthwhile one nonetheless!

Enough Lenny to let you in - not too much to saturate your eardrums!
Lenny is one of those artists that has at least one song everyone loves, and you'll likely find that one song on this collection of hits. One of the most eclectic artists of the past 30 years, Lenny's music has some of the most arching influences you're likely to hear in one place. He has a grasp of all genres from funk to rock; he can bust out a ballad or he can assault your ears with at times unbearable grating guitars and drums. But in saying that, there cannot be a more underrated artist that just begs to be embraced. Songs like 'fly away' sit at odds with 'are you gonna go my way' and 'it ain't over til it's over' seems worlds apart from 'mama said', but when you put this CD on and set about firing up the BBQ or cleaning the house, or just chilling on the back porch with your preferred bevvy, you will not be disappointed with the journey. I bought this CD because I really didn't want to go out and buy four or five different albums for the five or six songs I really wanted in my collection. And I am not at all upset with my decision. This collection gives you enough "Lenny" to satisfy even the most dedicated fan whilst not leaving the casual listener oblivious to Lenny's potential. After listening to this CD, you can appreciate how Lenny can stand on a stage with Prince (Rave un2 the year 2000) and just as happily rock out with Slash (from Guns 'n' Roses fame). Worth having in the collection.
