Ridiculous value
This snare drum, simply put, is ridiculous. It sounds great at lower tuning, mid and high. I particularly like the mid-high because you get an extremely loud crack on contact, but you don't lose any of the low end and "wetness" of the drum. In my opinion, you would be very hard pressed to find a snare that sounds this good, in this price range. I'm not too quick to give out a five star rating, but for the money, this is absolutely a five star drum.

DW... Enough said
DW never fails to deliver a high quality drum with tremendous value ( what you get for what you pay ). This drum delivers great tone all over the tuning range, and it has exceptional warmth for a metal drum. The 8" depth is also nice in this case, because it helps get a great depth to the sound, even at extreme tension. If you crank the reso head, you can get an awesome resonance and slight ring that you would expect from a brass drum. If you crank the batter head tighter than the reso head though, you cut out all over tones completely, and the result is ear-splitting attack. This is a great drum, but I expect no less from DW!
