Magnets
What can I say, they're magnets, they're strong for the size, as super magnets are.

Just the ticket.
The quality of this needle valve is great for the price. A slight difference between the 2 needle valves I bought, was that one was a bit harder to turn. Both however functioned well.

Single phase motors are hard to control.
The problem is not this controller specially, but single phase speed controllers in general. They dont really work well. The speed of the motor changes drastically with load and the rpm is hard to maintain without continual adjustments.
