Absorbing crime thriller in an entirely new setting.

This was a really absorbing story using a complex and compelling plot, and a range of very well-drawn characters. It gave a real taste of life in Tel Aviv, where the echoes of the Holocaust and the struggle to re-establish Israel had touched people in very different ways. So it puts the familiar idea of a private detective into a dramatically novel setting. It's very easy to get into the story, and very hard to put the book down. The next in the series is already on order.
