Excellent for creating large arrays for small factor cases
1 of 1 found this helpful Excellent value for creating a large RAID 5/6 or JBODs. I've used 6 or 7 of these and they work well with Areca or LSI (Avago) cards. I really like the shallow depth of the card (170mm) so it works well in small cases. The power usage maxes out at ~ 10 watts and is less than 1 watt at rest. It has dual power source as well -- you can use PCIe or the legacy LP4 connections.

Very useful for 8 x 15mm drives
Definitely a great product if you want a clutter free 8 drive setup using a SAS cable (SFF-8087 to SFF-8087) instead of SATA cables. Also good if you have legacy SAS 2 SSD drives which are 15mm in height.
I use it for 8 x 5 Tb Seagate consumer drives (ST5000LM000) for storing read-only multimedia.
It is very sturdy and the drive caddies are metallic & firm.
