You'll need to spend a little time learning how to operate it
1 of 1 found this helpful I shoot TV news and carried one in my gadget bag for several years. Didn't use it very often. Slow to power up and configure for each use or I would have given it 5 stars. The menu is not intuitive at all. But the features built into this thing are amazing, and so is the audio quality. The on-board mics can be programed to perform like several different brands of high quality mics. They will surprise you! I was never disappointed with the results. Would have used it more if it didn't usually take me several minutes to power it up and set it for what I needed to do. Used it for a number of feature stories I shot, especially when recording music or important ambient sound.

Made a big difference
I shoot TV news and often stick a little Beofung on the camera when out shooting breaking news. The 16" antenna made a big difference in how well the radio receives local police and EMS. If you buy one of these, the rubber tip will slip off if you pull on it, as I did removing it from the package. A spot of super glue fixed that!

Good Design
Nothing could be easier. You flip out the AC plug from the back of the charger, plug it into an outlet and attach the battery. No wires to get in the way. Light tells you when the battery is completely charged.
