OK after a little work
1 of 1 found this helpful The power supply that the instruction say is included and is needed to operate the unit is not included.
Note: The ad and photos for the unit's listing do not show or mention this part.
The internal batteries are only to prevent a loss of memory should the 9 volt DC power fail.
I constructed a 9 volt supply using an old battery pigtail and a plug from some some other long forgotten device.
The Caller ID will now function as expected.
