Fine music from an expert organist
Though this disc was recorded as long ago as 1992, the name of organist Gerhard Gnann was unknown to me until I bought it recently. He performs a programme of baroque and early classical pieces with tempi that are often lively but never forced, and registrations that enable him to show off a variety of the marvellous solo stops of the great Gabler organ at Weingarten. Well recorded but with a minor cavil: the way the engineers cut off the reverberation in the church at the end of track 11. A first rate disc; surely a strong candidate for reisssue.
