You can't go wrong with Louder than Bombs
If I were to recommend an album when introducing "The Smiths" to somebody this would be one of the albums I would recommend. It's a double length album so you get a lot of bang for your buck. I had this in my disc changer for over 3 years or so back when I was a teenager and even today it plays out timelessly from beginning to end. I was a teenager in the late 80's and I started listening when the the group was on the verge or breaking up....around 87 or so. I think their last studio album was "Strangeways Here We Come". I guess my top two would have to be "The Queen is dead" and "Louder than Bombs" but all the Smiths albums hold a special place in my heart. If I close my eyes and put my headphones on...it's like I'm an awkward teenager again and Morrissey and Johnny Marr held the keys to my salvation. All their albums are time capsules of a simpler time and special time growing up in that era of special music.
