Compact Mulcher
8 of 8 found this helpful Havent clocked up many hours use yet as it simply turns out branches into wood chips and mulch in a very short time. I find it excellent to feed material into the side shoot. It does require a little more use with the chainsaw to trim into smaller branches so the side shoot can take them, but it does create superior wood chips. I have found the top feed a little difficult to get very leafy material to flow. The funnel is a little tight and requires a pushing tool to safely keep flowing. Again I find eaiser to just cut a large branch, taking off all the smaller side shoots, and feeding into the side, leaves and all one piece at time. The discharge shoot does throw the material into a nice heap. I haven't bothered to try the bag yet as I simply just keep moving the unit along as it builds up with mulch. I do think realistically bags are a waste of time to a petrol mulcher. It is designed to handle tonnes and nearly as fast as you can feed it in! Any branches with actual timber in them need to be eased into the feed so it doesn't over load. This helps create smaller wood chips and I certainly don't see as a bad point. I have only really tried it on freshly fallen green branches. This unit does work way above my expectations and im extremely happy with my purchase. I have turned out many tonnes of wood chip and mulch in such a short time. I cannot see any fault or poor quality in the machine. I really like the large wheels and its compact design. Making so easy to store when not in use, and even easier to pull out and move around between trees etc. I can easily spend an hour going ahead with the chain saw preparing all the banches to then start the chipper, and maybe 15min to feed it all in to start the cycle again. Highly recommend to anyone who has dreamed of owning a wood chipper/mulcher.
