This Movie Joins The Classics!
I absolutely love this movie! All performances are excellent, but I especially loved Kathy Bates, and Jessica Tandy was at her best (this is also special to me because this was probably her very last movie before her death - making it a true keepsake). You have to see it, of course, to appreciate it, but the movie covers every aspect of life imaginable. It flows easily between the current, modern time and flashbacks to the 1930's south as Jessica Tandy tells the stories of her youth to bored housewife Kathy Bates - seeking some meaning to her life. This movie has it all: drama, tragedy, inspiration, even comedy! It's the greatest and I am happy I found my copy on ebay.

PICNIC
Eversince I saw Picnic many years ago (probably when it first came out), I just fell in love with it. I have always been drawn to the small town life especially from that era, when I was also growing up. When video stores sprang into existence, I searched for the movie "Picnic" and it was not in release for video rental. Most recently, I searched for it on eBay and was fortunate enough to find a reasonably priced VHS version - which I have no problem with. Well, I am now the owner of the movie "Picnic" and very happy to have it. The dance scene between Kim Novak and William Holden is a classic - very sensuous, yet touchingly simple. I loved Susan Strasberg's character and she played it to perfection, cute little tomboy observer of life. One very telling sign of those times was Rosalind Russell's performance of the old maid school teacher (also an excellent performance). I'm just so happy to have this movie, so I can watch it over and over again.
