Great game and value in the collectors version stimied by network problems
1 of 1 found this helpful Star Trek Online is a game that didn't have much content when it was released and it got some well-deserved stick for it, but a year or so later, its had time to grow and mature into a fun, and engaging game for Star Trek fans. The game play is simple to learn but difficult to master, the graphics and visuals are compelling and generally well-executed, and it does a good job of immersing the player in the game world.
Why just four stars then? Well, the developers have a really bad habit of taking the game down for long, repeated maintenances, some unannounced, and in general the game suffers from a lot of network connectivity issues: a lot of players experience lag in the form of rubberbanding, especially EU players.
Nonetheless the game itself is tightly designed, and the collectors edition includes a lot of extras which are fun and add to the experience: the communicator pin is a neat touch for cosplayers and the Red Matter Capacitor item you get when activating the key is something that I'm not sure how I did without!
