Quality of DVD's on e-bay -dawnh1019
6 of 6 found this helpful I recently purchased Catweasle series 1 and Joe 90 box set from dawnh1019. Her site is one I can thoroughly recommend. The DVD's were in excellent condition and importantly NOT copies !All were in original packaging and they contained their original booklets.
Both were bought for pure nostalgic reasons. I loved them as a child and was not disappointed re-watching them. My girlfriend and I ,laughed at the antics of Catweasle and Carrot.(Okay. I know, we should get out more)
I tried to purchase Catweasel through other sources but with no success . It was by pure chance ,while purchasing Joe 90 box set, I checked 'other items being sold by dawnh1019'
Having previously bought a DVD from a different e-bayer, I was very disappointed. Not only did it have subtitles throughout, it jumped and finally froze halfway through the film. Basically, a waste of money.
I am always wary of this now and will only purchase fronm e-bayers who specify that they do not sell copies and that their's are genuine. Dawnh1019 is one such e -bayer.

Trip down Memory Lane
I was transported back to 1969 - a wide eyed five year old who was fascinated by secret agent Joe. I couldn't wait to be ten and a secret agent too! Ah , bless. Seriously though, the great thing with Gerry Anderson's creations are that they are timeless-they can not age or date and the attention to detail is superb. The story goes that Gerry Anderson wanted to direct feature movies when he was offered the chance to create his 'children's show'.He decided to apply all his skill as a director to his creations (Thunderbirds, Stingray etc.)The results are 'edge of the seat' drama with scaled down realism - you start to believe in the characters (you do when you are ten)To call them puppets or a children's show is an insult - they are out on thier own there has been nothing like them before or since.I was involved in a 1990's emergence of a new character in the form of Lou Tennent (for a beer commercial)-which was a sucess and the appeal is still there today with the New Captain Scarlett on TV. Okay, I didn't become a secret agent but Joe 90 is still there.

The Icon, the Singer/songwriter -The Man
I actually bought this album as part of my dissertation project. Being a Mod in 1979 I was very much into The Kinks. If you think Ray Davies solo is anything like early Kinks stuff it isn't. Like must artists that survive they evolve. Paul Weller is a good example, Weller was heavily influenced by Ray's style of writing . He is highly descriptive in his lyrics in a poetical way -'the grey dirty steps, reflect my thoughts...the last thing that I saw as I lay there on the floor, was Jesus Saves painted by an atheist nutter & and a British Rail poster Have an AwayDay do it today!'-Going Underground-The Jam.
This album is a great autobiographical journey -Ray narrates then illustrates with song.A great insight to the man (who I have met)
My favourite solo album is 'The Working Man's Cafe' -given free by The Mail - How mad was that! Lastly I would say is watch for copies on Ebay. You can normally tell it isn't by the phrases 'I only played it once/twice etc. ' or 'Unwanted gift' -this was an original -they claimed it is hard to get now but You can still purchase it from Amazon UK -it depends where you look- annd still thrilled with purchase. Hope any of this helps.
