Labyrinth of Passion (VHS) Pedro Almodovar Spanish 1983
If you like Almodovar, then you will enjoy this farcical romp. Follow Sexi, the nymphomaniac daughter of an overworked gynecologist father, as she galavants around Madrid having sexual adventures. Along the way, she encounters very unusual characters woven together with twists and turns. Starring Celia Roth, Imanol Arias, and Antonio Bandaras. Also with a cameo appearance of a guy who looks like Almodovar himself, but whom I believe is his brother. Almodovar is considered the premier filmmaker in Spain today. If you get into his abnormal style, then you will get something out of this film.

Hanussen sees a chilling future as the Nazis take power
This is an interesting story that takes place as Hitler is gaining power and influence in Germany. Hanussen, played by Klaus-Maria Brandauer, is a Hungarian soldier who recognizes his clairvoyant powers after a head injury. He tours his act, amusing audiences until he makes a fool out of a member of the Nazi party. It's hard to tell a story when the ending is already known. Hanussen is the story of one man's struggle with the truth, and what he's willing to do to cope with it. In German, with English subtitles. 117 min.

More Than Words : Almost Lost Sheltering Hearts Safely Home No Limits the...

Outside the Virgin River Story Line
I read the Sheltering Hearts novella by Robyn Carr out of the five stories included in the volume. But unlike her other books in the Virgin River series, this story takes place in Fortuna. It has only brief mentions or very limited interactions with any of the Virgin River characters. Similarly, the characters in Sheltering Hearts are not featured or at a minimum, briefly mentioned, in the Virgin River books. The five chapter story revolves around single mom Dory, who is fleeing an abusive relationship, and moves to Fortuna to start over in an inherited home. She and her children move in as new next door neighbor Clay is moving in. Dory has many skeletons in her past, but Clay is genuine in his interest in her and her children. Then, Dory loses her Supermarket job due to an unsympathetic boss’ failure to understand the challenges of being a single mom with abuse in her past. Dory has quite a bit of rebuilding to do, both professionally and personally. I understand that the funds from the sale of this book benefits organizations that help women get back on their feet and contribute to their community. I think it’s nice that Carr and the other authors would donate parts of their work and part of the proceeds from the original sale of this book to help or honor women deserving or in need. I just wish that the story I read had a stronger impact on the other stories in the Virgin River series.
