Works well

I bought this because I wanted to connect an older Apple TV (gen. 2) with HDMI to a TV with only a DVI connector. I could transmit the picture with a standard HDMI-DVI cable but the sound was missing because DVI does not carry sound. Luckily Apple TV 2 has optical audio out and the TV can take the audio via RCA connectors. I used this unit to solve the sound issue. This works well and did not cost much. After all, it did not make sense to invest much in the old equipment. Quality seems good, metal casing etc. Remember to remove the grey/transparent protective rubber caps from the optical lead supplied with the unit, it will not work otherwise.
