Paughco Rear Heat Shield for 719-1 Series Exhaust on 1986-2003 Sportster 419-1RU
27 April 2022
Pricey - but looks good. And no more hot leg and scorched riding trousers.
Bought this after my rain trousers melted on the original pipe. After cleaning up, my riding jeans started smoking as so close to the main pipe. A heat shield is a necessity on Paughco upsweeps in my view. Good chrome and fits well - but I was expecting a longer cover based on the photos. It actually runs down from the cylinder to just above the horizontal bend rather than around it. The retainer clips are fiddly to insert through the lugs on the rear and don't look too rust proof - I used a small amount of high temperature grease to ease the way. Pretty certain the clips will mark the main pipe underneath if over-tightened. Make sure you check clearance for the bolts. You'll need a screwdriver or spanner to tighten then up so look for the best side to insert based on where the nut will protrude and if there's sufficient space around it to use your spanner or screwdriver. Any slips and the chrome gets scratched - so plan ahead.
Pink Drive Gear fits Suffolk Qualcast Classic Petrol 35S 43S QX

Not a long-lasting part.
These flimsy plastic gears are standard equipment - but easily break. I have to replace each year. Why not produce them in long-lasting metal or stronger, less brittle plastic? I real design fault on the Classic 35S in my view.
