Sublime Musicianship
Both these musicians are of Iranian Kurdish decent and their playing together is both sublimely sympatico and deeply musical. Kahan Kalhor is a rare musician whose music and technique is beyond tradition and genre. In his hands the kemence (Persian fiddle) has a timbral richness that extends the violin. It sings, aches and reminisces with a millenia of joy and sorrow in its wake. It's music in a continuum beyond past and present. A wonderful recording from two musicians at the peak of their powers!
