Pengxiaomei 10 Pieces Diamond Cutting Wheel, 22mm 545 Diamond Mandrel Dremel ...
08 November 2018
Durable and capable cutting wheel from a trustworthy brand.
I am really glad I purchased these PengXiaoMei brand diamond cutting wheels. It is easy to find "no name" products inexpensively sourced from China; but PengXiaoMei proudly puts their name on these products - and with good reason. I have a Dremel tool that I was trying to use to cut the bottom off of a large Mercury Vapor light bulb. It seems the tempered glass they use just laughed at the Dremel "cutting wheels" that came with my unit. I figured I need to up my game and use a diamond cutting wheel instead. Now, Dremel sells a diamond cutting wheel, just one, not a pack of ten as we have here. Knowing how fragile their regular cutting wheels are (you can almost break one by looking cross-eyed at it), I figure I'd need at least two - maybe five - to make it all the way through my cutting project. But at 1,700% as expensive (expletives elided) I couldn't afford it. Enter PengXiaoMei to the rescue. For little more than half the cost of a single Dremel wheel, I bought this set of ten PengXiaoMei cutting wheels. Again, I figured I'd break at least one, maybe need a few to get through my project. But surprise, these PengXiaoMei wheels are surprisingly durable; I didn't break even one. And it cut superbly through the tempered glass without any signs of dulling. Bottom line, these PengXiaoMei diamond cutting wheels are terrific. They're durable, they cut superbly, and they come in a handy storage folder. There's even an extra shank, in case you accidentally lose the other. This seems to be a trustworthy brand. Highly recommended.
TP-Link JetStream 24-Port Gigabit Smart PoE+ Switch with 4-SFP Slots 192W
10 April 2018
Good Switch and Router
I purchased this "Smart" switch for a SOHO network because I needed VLAN segregation and PoE. Unexpectedly, it turns out to be a router as well, forwarding selected traffic between IP subnets if you so wish, with DHCP relay support and such; by "router" we're talking subnet-to-subnet, not NAT.. The 192W of PoE is better than that on many "inexpensive" PoE switches. I also own their TL-SG2216, which is similar, minus the PoE. I like the web interface on the TL-SG2216 better than on this model here, the T1600G-28PS, as it doesn't clutter the screen with gratuitous Chassis/Module entries; it refers to port ten as "10", whereas this model refers to it as "1/0/10" as if it were a very large datacenter switch. Also, the port configuration screen has a harmless bug that it fails to populate the HTML form with port values when you click on a port to edit it, forcing you to enter the values anew each time you make a change; that really ought to be fixed in firmware, but there have been no firmware updates (for my V2 hardware) in more than a year. On the other hand, I suspect that TP-Link figures users of this switch will use the CLI and not the web interface. Do note that if you plan on putting this switch in a home office or den, it does have two 40mm fans. They are variable speed, so are quiet compared to typical data center switches. In an office environment, the white noise would be an improvement over the chatter. But in a quiet home setting, you might want to park this away from sleeping quarters.

Adjustable Power Supply 30V 10A 110V Precision Variable DC Digital Lab w/clip
08 November 2018
Great little bench supply - and nicely made - with one caveat.
This is a great little lab DC power supply, with one caveat (see below). Its 30V range makes it quite useful for powering audio circuitry. And its 10A output will let you charge your car battery should you find yourself without a car charger. And with a price on-par with a car charger, this unit could pay for itself right there. Both voltage and current are continuously variable all the way to zero. And the nice 3-digit precision meters are adjustable in case you wish to calibrate your unit. Build quality appears very good. The circuitry inside is well laid out and nicely assembled. A variable speed fan on the rear keeps the unit cool. Its attractive enough to leave sitting on a coffee table as a conversation starter. Would also come in handy to teach children the basics of electricity. There is one downside to this unit, and the only reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars. In order to maintain tight control over voltage and current, the internal feedback circuitry has a rather high gain. If you are only reaching the current limit, or voltage limit, but not both, then this works in your favor. But if you reach the point at which the current limit and voltage limit are in play simultaneously, they will oscillate against one another haphazardly, causing voltage and current spikes above their setpoints. To stop oscillation, one can either lower V or A, or else crank either towards the upper end (at which point the other limiter will ensure safe output levels). Just be aware of this behavior when dealing with delicate circuitry, and you will be fine. Other commenters have reported high-frequency interference from this unit. But I have not seen any evidence of it, unless perchance they were referring to the oscillation I noted above. All-in-all, this is a very nice little bench supply. Quite happy to have it.
