Astounding sharp fantastic lens with great wide end
This was a really pleasant surprise... I was initially after the af-s 24-85mm 1:3.5-4.5G due to it's legendary sharpness, and I did get that lens. I only took a gamble on this one due to its similar specs (and having a d7100 it is somewhat 'custom made' as it's a DX lens). Side by side, I find that the two lens are similar, and perhaps this is even a little better in sharpness, and of course it has the very handy wider range of zoom and 16mm focal length ability. It performs really well at the wide focal length. In short, it has become my favourite lens since purchase and is the one most likely to be on my camera, over the primes and 18-200 superzoom (which it certainly has the edge over in sharpness) due to its super crisp shots and pure versatility. Thank you ebay seller!

A good lens
Rockwell cites this as a top 10 lens and angry says it's in his worst 10. I tend to side more with Rockwell on this one, as it is very sharp, has a good focal range for a DX, and whilst not that fast it is still a good lens. I didn't get this in a kit, I bought it after the a bunch of sterling, expensive f2.8 nikkors... but I still find this one has a place in the camera box.
