Rick Bragg is an amazing writer. His descriptions make you feel as if you are living his memories. I love all his books. He came from being dirt poor and used his gift to prove that anyone can succeed and follow there dreams, not the dreams their family wants for them.

Bragg became famous, but it didn't change his ways

I picked up this book, used and then fell in love! After that, I purchased ALL of Rick Bragg's books for myself and for my sister who lives in Maine. Rick talks about about a kind of poor I had not heard of, and how it affected his life. This book should be read first, and then the others. He saviors life and would drive hours to get the best fish sandwich ever made. His father was in and out of their lives, just long enough to get his mama pregnant once again. Bragg finds humor is most anything. What a fabulous writer.
