Good Replacement Bulbs For Your Yaesu FRG-7's Display
All the bulbs on my FRG-7 have been replaced with these bulbs, with the exception of the two behind the main tuning dial which have longer leads. Brightness is equivalent to the original bulbs. These bulbs are 4.7mm wide, whereas the original are 4.2mm wide, however, the original rubber covers still fit. Take care when removing tarnishing prior to soldering as the leads are fragile.

A fun and interesting project to assemble
The instructions included with the kit we're a poor photocopy so I found instructions by n5dux on the internet who had also assembled one. It is important to get the crystal oscillator around the right way on the board, and to tune the green component with a non-metallic screwdriver until an aircraft frequency is heard. Reception of airborne aircraft is good, and ground stations come in when in line-of-sight of the transmitter. I keep the squelch function wide open, otherwise there are quite loud clicks in my ear, which means two or more stations may be heard at once. It is connected to a simple 60cm VHF antenna with four ground plane radials and I can pick airborne aircraft up 100km away. Tuning selectivity was improved when I adding a multiple-winding potentiometer. This was a fun and interesting project to make.

Very robust
The case is well made, easy to assemble and it looks good. The phone is well protected and nearly as easy to use as if it were not in the case. The only difference I have noted so far is that, in some instances, slightly extra pressure is required when using the touch screen. Also, selections in the corners of the screen can be slightly harder to access due to the depth of the bezel. Overall, I am very happy with the case and would recommend it to anyone who wants extra protection for their iPhone.
