Excellent functonality of the SONY RM-AV3100
Likes: Fully teachable, customizable. Can learn any command; even from those "difficult" components that other Universal remotes cannot control. Can teach it System sequence functions; can be helpful to have the remote turn on several components and switch them to the correct function/input setting. User definable macros allow a sequence of key strokes to be executed using a single button. Sony support website has downloads of manuals (should you ever misplace yours). Sony Website also has key code tools that let you customize a printable summary sheet for your components. Dislikes: System1 and System3 buttons are factory defined and cannot be changed. With 13 other user-definable systems this is not an issue but it would have been nice to be able to redefine any system; esp. since Systems 1-3 have "hard" buttons on the remote. Maybe just a nit on my part. Manual reads a little bit awkward at times but once you get the hang of things it is not too bad to follow. Summary: This remote does what it advertises. It may seem intimidating at first but once you get going, it is quite intuitive. It is very flexible as far as customizing; so, you can make it "yours". It is worth pointing out that the RM_AV3100 is an update to the RM-AV3000; a few quirks of the RM-AV3000 were fixed and a few newer options added. So, if you have the opportunity, try to get the RM-AV3100. Overall, I recommend this remote. However, I would not pay full retail for it. There are deals to be found on this remote. Just check out eBay.

BEAMTECH 9005 HB3 LED Headlight Bulb Fanless 50W 6500K 8000LM CSP Light KIT Pair

Best fanless LED solution to replace OEM bulbs ... simply works well ... great value
Beamtech works. If you are looking for a fanless LED solution to work in your existing (or converted) light assembly, this is it. Using 9005 in the high beam of the OEM housings of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee along with the 9006 for the low beam. Also using the 9003 in H4 converted applications for Jeep XJ and Toyota pickup. Highly recommend Beamtech.
Comprehensive RGB YPbPr to HDMI Converter with SPDIF Optical Toslink

Actually works to get a clean HDMI signal that is HDCP compliant and preserves digital surround audio
After trying one of those other "upscaler" units, ended up using this. Other unit had marginal video quality, only accepted analog audio input and was plagued by HDCP copy protection rendering some source material unwatchable. On the other hand, this unit properly converts the video signal, accepts digital audio stream (important to preserve digital surround) and creates an HDCP compliant HDMI signal; so, no copy protection issues. Output looks as good as the 480p direct component video connection to the TV (in the case of using a progressive scan DVD player). The TV does the upscaling to 1080p (in the case of my TV). Why use this? It is handy where a clean HDMI format signal is required or desired. Even though my TV (older unit) still has component inputs, the HDMI connection from this unit allows seamless integration with other HDMI components (in my case via an auto HDMI switcher) and also, the digital surround audio is preserved. This is key since most of these converters (or upscalers in some cases) only accept analog audio inputs which may be very limiting when the source has digital surround (e.g. Dolby Digital or DTS, etc). Please note, this is a "component video + spdif audio" to "hdmi" converter. Preserves whatever video resolution is provided at the input. I am using it with a Sony Mega DVD changer that does not have HDMI connectivity; the changer is handy to load and store many seasons of old TV shows on DVD and easily access them. Hope this helps anyone considering this unit. I got a nice deal from a great seller here on eBay.
