Uplifting
I am absolutely addicted to Lauriaine Snelling's books. This was the first one that I read. Ruby and her little sister Opal travel to the Dakota territories I the 1880's to claim their inheritance. What they received from their father was anything BUT what they expected. Ruby begins a life here that changes the lives of all her neighbors. I would call this book, and the rest of the books in this series, are very well written, and uplifting. They are exciting. There are struggles, celebrations, failures and triumphs. Ruby talks to God on a regular basis. Her words are the same ones that I use on a daily basis. I have never read a book that explores this relationship.
I am reading the third book in another series of Snelling's books. And there are lots more to come. My daily life caring for my husband with dementia called me to find some exciting books that were hopeful and based on people who did their best and had struggles, failures, and success. I love historical fiction.
And I have LOVED all six of the books I have read by Lauraine Snelling.

Lauraine Snelling
Ruby, Pearl, Opal, and Amethyst are four books in an excellent series. It could be classified as Christian literature, but it is so much more. These books and Selling's series about the settlement of North Dakota are safe uplifting places to live when your life gets to be too much. I have read 25 of Ms Snelling's books. I wish that she could write faster.

Wonderful Read
The Shadow Sister is book 3 in The Seven Sisters Series. I would recommend that you read them in order. They are all hefty books, and I am not a speedy reader. But I couldn’t believe how quickly I read these three!
You must be on your toes, however. There are a lot of characters. ( I enjoyed all of them.) I can’t wait to go to get book 4. I hope that you enjoy this engrossing series!
