This is a very cute instrument....but
I purchased this instrument purely for novelty reasons. I teach in a public middle school and I use ukuleles extensively in my instruction. It’s sound is merely ok as is it’s intonation. Pretty much what I expected in such a low cost instrument. However....
I’m not sure how it was stored in the warehouse but when I opened the packaging I was struck with a really musty, moldy smell. It was very bad.
I tuned it up (which of course take some time for the strings to maintain their pitch) and hung it on the wall to hopefully air out. It’s been a few weeks and the smell is still there but not quite as bad. I haven’t used any disinfectant spray yet but I suppose that will be the next step.
My students like to play it. I guess they’re not as picky about the smell as I am.
