Not as good as Cloud people claim
I purchased the Cloudlifter CL-X as new open box from eddie's attic. My appraisal of this product is that it is a very expensive, overrated piece of equipment. I have gotten similar performance from the Manayo DM3 (made in China) for one quarter the cost. I am very disappointed. I own several CL-1 preamps and I don't think the CL-X has as much additional gain as the Cloud people claim. One of the reasons why I say this is when I press the button to turn the attenuator on, the gain drops about 12dB instead of the expected 22dB or so. I am using this CL-X with a Shure SM7B microphone and a Tascam DP24SD mixer/recorder. With the attenuator off, the gain of the CL-X is almost the same as the Manayo DM3.
