Used as a monitor
2 of 2 found this helpful I have had this unit in operation for a few weeks now. It set up very easily and recognized the PC input right away. (HDMI) I have an older video card (GTX 650) with one gig memory. However, running the PC at full 4K resolution works fine. For regular computing, a more robust video card is unnecessary. Playing games is where the extra horsepower of better video card would be nice.
I can still play reasonable well at 1920 x 1080. Things still render quick enough and the action does not slow down. I'm waiting until next year for the price of the GTX 1080 series to come down off their $500 price level. All this bitcoin mining demand has kept their price high for longer than the norm.
Visually, the big 40" screen is outstanding. You can scale the fonts easily. I sit only 3 feet away from the screen, but because the image is so sharp, there is no eye strain or fatigue. I can have multiple pages open with a TV feed in one corner and other pages open at the same time. The screen Real Estate is amazing.
I considered a 32" monitor but the tech differences were not apparent. This unit was actually less expensive than all of the 32" monitors I considered. It was an easy decision.
I think I will be happy with choice. I have had other samsung products and have been happy with their build quality. I'm sure this one will turn out fine as well.
