Very good for price
I don't own the official Hori drum, but I doubt it will be much better than this drum especially for the price. The sides are more responsive than the center, typically responding with just a tap. The center, however, will not respond to light taps. You will have to put a little force behind it, so you will not be able to have a very quiet play session. You can buy a felt cover on Etsy to help with noise as well as to have a cute protective cover. To be consistent and not miss notes though, I would recommend always drumming with some consistent force.
The pads on the feet will help with slipping, but since its a light drum it will slide around some while drumming which can be very annoying and cause you to miss notes. I secure my drum by surrounding it with books and it doesn't budge after that. I have completed a few songs on expert, so there isn't a problem with note duplication and the drum accurately registers hits.
