Thought provoking
story is excellent and an easy read. written in a very calm and measured manner, especially given the nature of the events and experiences that it details. previous knowledge of the thai Burma railway shaped by the movie of the bridge over the river kwai, but as with most books, gives a far greater insight into both how the prisoners coped along with the clashes of culture with the Japanese that they came into contact with
