Wonderful reissue despite poor original production
The two albums Andre Previn made with conductor/arranger David Rose are thematically based, one centered on songs with "Blue" in the title, and this one with "Lovers" as the topic. The LPs were released originally on MGM Records, and for whatever reason the producer placed mics close to Mr. Previn's piano and had the orchestra playing in what sounds like a overly reverberant space three miles away. Despite the bizarre acoustics, the performances are enjoyable and what would expect from both artists in this period. This is the best reproduction available of "Secret Songs for Young Lovers" and one should avoid the other CD reissue at all costs.
