Excellent club for getting out of the rough/better than a hybrid.
I bought this club for shots that end up in the first cut of the rough. I can't seem to get the ball airborne with either my 3 wood or 4 wood when I am faced with a shot like this. The club goes down and gets the ball up quickly and I have been pleased with the distance it will carry. We all can't be in the fairway all the time, but for those occasions that we are not, this club is a must. I thought I would be using it on longer Par 3's but haven't had a chance to try it. I would recommend this club. Easy to hit/Callaway quality/and serves my purpose as I prefer it to a hybrid. This club is longer.

Game Imrpovement irons don't always mean high handicaps
Before I bought my set of Ping rapture irons, I did go through the process of having them verified by Ping as being authentic, and they were. I had been burnt buying a Scotty Cameron putter that turned out to be a fake, so you can never be too careful. Be cautious if the price is a "Buy Now" or "Best Offer" listing and the price seems out of wack with others you have seen. When it comes to Ping irons they maintain their value better than just about all the clubs out there including Calloway, and therefore expect to pay more than you would for a similiar set from another manufacturer. I am 62 years old and play to a 10 handicap and therefore I did not buy these irons to 'improve' my game but I am sure that they will. My research indicated that Ping has only tweeked the club through the G10 and G15 model. Perhaps if I was younger I would go for the lastest in their technolgy but I could only find minor differences between the Raptures and the G15 models. Certainly not significant enough to justify the price differential. These are the first set of irons I have played that have a softer shaft than regular. Some companies are calling these shafts 'senior models' while Ping has gone with the label of 'soft regular'. I had bought a Ping driver with this soft regular shaft and it corrected all the problems I was having and I am very pleased with how thses irons feel. I have bad arthritis in my hands and there is very little kick back through the shaft which I was getting with clubs that had either regular and more particularily stiff shafts. My clubs were black dot and I had them fine tuned at one of the best club makers in the Maritimes. the adjustments needed were minor. If you need large adjustments you are better to have yourself fitted at a Ping dealer and send the used clubs you bought to Ping and they will adjust them to your specs. The only sore point in this whole exercise is the fact that most iron sets do not include a sand wedge and when you are dealing with past models sometime they can be hard to find. For me a club has to promote confidence and I can't think of any other club I would rather swing than a set of Pings, even though they are two models old, I'm not looking to win the Masters, but I will take advantage of new technology and these irons fit the bill to a tee.

Part of something larger
I bought the 7 iron because I was able to buy a complete set of the hi-bore irons at a great price, but the 7 iron was missing. I tend to change my clubs much too often, however I am fully satisfied with the performance of these clubs. I am 62 years old and play to a 15 handicap. My handicap would be lower if only I could putt better. These irons are extremely easy to hit. I am not a long hitter as my hands are full of arthritis but even with my slow swing speed I am very satisfied with the flight of the ball and the distances I am able to achieve. I usually experience twisting of the club especially when hitting an iron off the tee, but even on miss hits, there is plenty of forgiveness. Low handicappers probably would like these clubs, but for me they are the best I have played with and I have pretty much played them all.
