The beginning of (cinematic) Bond

James Bond before the gadgets, opening action sequence and even before the Aston Martin. It's fascinating to see the cinematic starting point of this franchise as well as a snapshot of 1962 Jamaica. This Blu-Ray looks great on the big screen - thanks to a thorough but sympathetic restoration. The special features including an in-depth docu about the making of the movie is almost worth the price of the movie.

Still as shocking and violent as the day it was made

This is a cheap action movie told in a no-nonsense manner. John Carpenter made every shot (cinematic or otherwise) count and delivered a story that has interesting characters amongst a violent - and shocking - backdrop. This is a masterclass in how a small budgeted movie can still deliver a powerful viewing experience. Sit back, enjoy the synth vibes and lock yourself down for the Assault on Precinct 13.
